Today is National Chocolate Cupcake Day! Awesomeness. Chocolate is amazing; cupcakes are super amazing. Put them together and well, you can’t get much better than that can you? So, in honor of this distinguished day, I’m going to bring to you some tasty chocolate cupcake recipes!

Cupcakes have actually been around for quite a few years. The earliest mention is near the end of the 18th century. Then as in now, they are a faster way to bake a cake, divided into individual servings. The only difference in modern cupcakes is now we add icing! I’d say that is a definite improvement.

Fun Fact: Cupcakes became popular back in 1919 when Hostess began mass producing them. At the time, they weren’t cream filled. The cream filled version originated in the 1950s.
