Happy Cinco de Mayo! All across the US, folks are celebrating with raised margaritas and chips and salsa. Here at Daily Holiday Blog, we love any excuse for a holiday, and found a nice selection of fun party ideas and recipes to help celebrate the day with!
What is Cinco de Mayo?
Well, for those that aren’t real familiar with Spanish, Cinco de Mayo means the fifth of May, and is the celebration of the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independance Day. That occurred 50 years prior to the Battle of Puebla. It is celebrated on September 16.

Cinco de Mayo is a big deal in the United States. In Mexico? Not so much. Mexico celebrates with political speeches and battle reenactments.
