10 Unique Candy Recipes!

Sweet candy is one of my favorite things.  It is an issue sometimes.  LOL!  But the holidays are a great excuse to pull out that sugar and make something fabulous.  Today is National Candy Day, so lets look at some unique candy recipes, perfect for holiday giving!

Did you know? Americans purchase nearly 600 million pounds of candy a year for Halloween.  This includes 90 million pounds of chocolate, making Halloween week the most popular week of the year to buy candy.  Easter comes in second place with 65 million pounds, followed by Valentines Day with just 48 million pounds.

I’d say that candy is pretty much a favorite around here!  Here are 10 unique candy recipes that are sure to be a great hit for the upcoming holiday season!

DIY Marshmallow Ribbon Candy from Bubble and Sweet

The top selling candy, believe it or not, is Candy Corn!  This is followed by Snickers, Reece’s, Kit Kat and M&M’s.

White Chocolate Rocky Road Candy from G-Free Foodie

Reece’s Pieces owes their fame to the movie E.T.  After the movie was released, Reese’s Pieces sales went up over 65%!  Which had to be a kick in the butt to M&M’s, who were originally offered the role, but turned it down!

Homemade Almond Joys from Miss Candiquik

Love Tootsie Pops?  Two different universities created machines to see how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.  One took 411, the other 364.  I guess the world may never know!


Creme de Menthe Truffles from Land O’ Lakes

During the making of the movie, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the director wanted to ensure that the kids reactions to the candy forest were as realistic as possible.  Did you know the entire candy forest set was completely edible?  It was a real chocolate river and the forest was all candy!  The director did not allow them see the set until they filmed, in order to capture truly amazed expression!
