Did you know there are two official Waffle Days every year?  Today’s holiday began in the United States and honors the anniversary of the waffle iron patent.

An important invention indeed!

In honor of the day, here are 17 ways to make a waffle!  Because… well, we can!

The waffle apparently holds special merit.  Not that anyone is going to complain.

Well, probably pancakes are jealous, but they will get over it.

In the south, there is a big chain of restaurants called Waffle House, and I have to admit that you will most likely find me there on a weekend enjoying a good cup of coffee and a waffle.  And I’m not the only one.  Since its founding in 1955, the Waffle House chain has sold more than 500 million waffles!

A gentleman named Maurice Vermersch decided to sell his wife’s fluffy Brussels Waffles at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.  He didn’t think anyone knew where Brussels was, so instead, he called them “Belgian Waffles”.
